AJAX
Lots of people have been very excited since adaptive path coined the acronym AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML) Google in particular has employed this type of technique to great effect e.g. in gmail (you're going to think I'm a google lover. oops!) but loads of other sites are using it too, and designers are coming out of the woodwork to say it's been possible and used for years.
I am fascinated by it and would dearly love to have a couple of weeks to devote to learning how to use it effectively and create some teaching resources with it. However, the two weeks coming up called "easter holidays" are not holidays but "times when lots of PGCE work must be done", unfortunately.
Anyway, this post contains some links that I want to follow up, when possible, and to do some new stuff with. When/if i do, it will be on bigqns along with other stuff I'm making at the minute, especially for my AVCE students.
