New wireless router/adsl modem
my new wireless box was delivered today and hastily set up - the wireless b router i had broke last week when i was fiddling with it, now i am unable to get into the admin pages and unable to flash ugrade the firmware. The wireless wasn't working which left it as a rather useless box in the cupboard merely powering a couple of wires.
So the new one was ordered and is now doing its thing quite nicely - connecting to the internet, serving wireless g at 54Mbps (108 turbo apparently, but not to me!)
better yet, it's allowing me to route ports properly for the first time ever, so i can use a proper testing server, my server here (xerxes) and possibly in time allow people to control my music playlist. for now, there's an Apache holding page at shakleton.mine.nu, but you can have a look. It'll also allow for some sweet ftp access to backups etc, at least to files on the main server here.
[edit] There's now a web page up, all lovely css driven stuff. Also, i have (password protected) music streaming on demand set up, weee!
the setup was excellent, comparing it to the struggle i had with my first adsl connection two or three years ago, it was fantastic. i was online in under a minute and had wireless set up and secured very soon after. so far it is a highly recommended product! [/edit]
